Epiphany

August 14. We reached the peak of the week. Take a big breath of the clean mountain air, grab a coffee and let’s get smarter together.

I was doing my morning routine of yoga and meditation after getting up, acknowledging thoughts but letting them go at the same time, when an epiphany hit me like freight train. Of course, I abandoned any plans I had for today’s post so I could share it with you.

I’ve mentioned before, but it’s so fundamental it can’t be repeated often enough, that we don’t experience reality. What we experience is a model of the world. And this is not any old model everyone of us is equipped with from birth. This is a model that each one of us generates ourselves. We use a small selection of the data our cells have collected from the physical universe to create it. Since the amount of data our cells collect is just as slither of the data available in the physical universe, this model is twice limited. We can decrease at least one limitation by constantly changing what data our mind selects for the generation process from the pool of data the cells have collected. But even then the model will remain a very limited one. And so it’s very interesting to discover what it still can be useful for. I mean 20% of all our energy is used up just for creating a very incomplete model of the world. And that’s in resting mode.

To understand what our mind has developed for – spoiler alert: our so highly regarded intelligence is just a byproduct – we must go back to what we are at the basic level: material things caught in an energy pattern or really both, wave and particles, at once. All material things, from us in our limited model recognized as atom or human alike, seek both their lowest energy state and to be in equilibrium with their surroundings what effectively means the whole of the physical universe. Our mind is a tool of the material things united in us to get closer to these goals and so its usefulness will be geared towards just that. It’s outward facing, towards the rest of the physical universe, the ‘surroundings’. It’s where the material things united in us find partners for the interactions necessary. Hence, the whole world generation process is geared towards optimizing our chances to interact with other material things caught in energy patterns in interactions that promise the highest payoff towards the twin goals.

So far, so wonderful. It’s all about energy exchange thus information exchange and if possible the release of energy when new patterns are established.

My epiphany now was this: the recipient of the information sought through the tool that’s our mind is not our mind. It’s our body, the material things united by the energy pattern that make us up. Energy is information. The more energy is released by forming patterns that allow material things to get to a lower energy state as a baseline, what widens the energy range they can be in, the more information can be exchanged and processed by them. The information tells them about their surroundings what’s necessary to get into equilibrium with it.

Problems start when we identify solely with the mind, the self, and expect that whatever search the mind conducts, it must pay off for the mind directly. The mind has no ability to decode the information in the energy. It will never even get involved with it. Because that’s not what it has developed for. And so, there’s no direct payoff. But the mind deals in hypotheticals and the imaginary since that helps it discern what the best energy pattern of those available might be to interact. So, it can imagine what a direct payoff for it might be and why. It’s all a story though, satisfying no real needs as the mind is a tool. And that’s the beginning of history, all history.

What we really seek are vibes that engage the body, not just the mind. Explore. AKA. Think. Make a habit out of thinking. Let’s turn thinking into the norm again.
